Fees and Budget

The following fees are required as part of your Huron exchange:

1. London Transit Bus Pass:  $144CAD per year (optional)

Purchasing the London Transit Pass will give you unlimited access to all the buses during your studies in London. If you do not wish to purchase the pass, you can buy bus tickets as needed.

2. University Health Insurance Plan: $252CAD per term (mandatory)

It is mandatory for all students to purchase the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). You will be billed by the Huron Accounting Department depending on how long you will be studying at Huron for. Information about the plan is available on the UHIP website.

3. Pre-Orientation: $400CAD (optional)

Participating in Pre-Orientation gives you the opportunity to use the airport pick-up service, move-in to residence early, and access to activities specifically for incoming exchange and international students.

4. Residence: $2,869CAD-$6,209CAD (recommended)

As an exchange student, you can apply to live in residence at Huron. As it can be difficult to find an apartment before you arrive, it is recommended that you apply to live in Huron's housing. More information about the facilities and fees are available here.

5. Meal Plan: $1,525CAD-$3,580CAD (recommended)

The Meal Plan gives you access to food at the Huron Dining Hall, as well as other on-campus dining options. More information is available here.

6. Academic Books: approximately $700CAD-$1,400CAD (mandatory)

Upon your arrival, you will be able to search for the books you need for your courses and purchase them. For convenience, you can purchase your books on-campus from the UWO Campus Book Store. The UWO Book Store has a search engine to help you determine which books you need for your classes.

Students can also choose to purchase their books online at Indigo.ca or Amazon.ca if they prefer.

7. Western ONECard: $20CAD (mandatory)

This card allows you access to the libraries, campus recreation facilities and serves as your meal card and bus pass.

8. CanCopy: $16

Paid by all students re copyright agreement with CanCopy.

9. International Activities Fee: $310 for full year or $155 for half year (mandatory)

These fees cover all events sponsored throughout the year. The fees cover bus fees and admission fees for out-of-town trips. Students who are here for the year pay $310; and students who are here for 1/2 year pay half that amount (i.e. $155). For a complete list of events, please view the International Activities website.
